2019 Christmas Market Tour

We spent 8 nights in Hungary exploring! Here is a little sampling of what we did!

Christmas Markets were our top priority!

The weather was perfect and the mulled wine was amazing!

We visited the Opera House in Budapest.

There were a lot of Christmas photo opportunities. This trio is not related but they always have a blast traveling together!

We saw Budapest at night and the view was beautiful! Of course, it always is!

We had a szaloncukor making workshop and learned how fun, and complicated, it can be!

We enjoyed our time exploring Sopron!

We had a mézeskalács decorating workshop!

Everyone was so talented and agreed it was a fantastic activity!

What can we say about Magyar Living Tours except that they are exceptional and if you want to explore Hungary they are definitely the group to travel with.  We consider ourselves somewhat “seasoned” travelers of Europe by ourselves.  In 2017 we decided to take a bus tour of historical places that celebrated Martin Luther’s 500th Anniversary of the Reformation.  Although the tour did deliver as it was promoted, in hindsight we discovered that a bus tour of 40+ people with transfers to new hotels every or every other day was not the way we wanted to explore the countryside of Germany and vowed never to take a bus tour again.

BUT Steve was intrigued by tour offerings of Magyar Living and wanted to try again.  I was way more skeptical, but we “stalked” their website for over a year and clearly the pictures and itineraries seemed to be our style of travel.  So we took a chance and signed up for the Christmas Market Tour 2019.  We were not disappointed.  A small group, flexible schedules, ability to fit our entire group around one dinner table, lots of free time to explore and soak in the sights, hands on activities and immersion in the cultural were among the many pluses.  Liz and Andrea are well versed in the opportunities available and can easily direct you to what you are interested in seeing.  We also appreciated that we only had to transfer to a new hotel once during the tour!

We are definitely signing up for another tour.
