Baking and Decorating Hungarian Honey Cakes

Hungarian Honey Cakes are called mézeskalács in Hungarian! We are hosting a series of classes with Tunde Dugantsi, owner of Tunde’s Creations! Tunde is a wonderful educator and loves to share her cookie decorating talents! But I am partial to the decorations with Hungarian designs!

You can pick or choose which ones interest you but it will definitely be a weekend full of fun and creativity! And, you will have some sweet little gifts to share with others, just in time for Valentine’s Day! Each class meets on Zoom and is a fun opportunity to be taught by a professional as well as take advantage of her expertise as we all work on the projects from start to finish! We are each in our own home but there is still a sense of community!

You don’t have to take a class to learn how to bake these cookies if you already know how, but, if you don’t, I encourage you to jump in on the fun. Tunde shares her recipe and important tips and tricks for consistent cookies! If you are planning to decorate the larger hearts (the class at the very bottom), you definitely need to get the larger cookie cutter and do some baking– Tunde has those available at her Etsy store!

Friday, February 5. 9pm Eastern: We will make the dough and it will only take about 30 minutes.

Saturday, February 6. 11 am Eastern: We will bake the cookies — it will take about 60-90 minutes.

In order to make the cookies below you will need to make or buy these flowers! Tunde does sell them in her Etsy shop (there is a link to her shop at each class), but I want to learn how to make them so I can make them any time I want so I will be sure to be there!
